The Overwatch clone “Legend of Titan” is not a game at all, say the developers of the non-game.
Just a tech demo using Overwatch as an example
Do you remember “Legend of Titan”, a game for the Chinese mobile market that looked exactly like a very poor copy of Overwatch? Exactly that “game” where they copied Reaper, Roadhog, Tracer, Bastion, and Widowmaker in minute detail. According to the developers of the “game” in a statement to a Chinese news site, the recordings of the “game” were made secretly and were never intended for the public.
The material shown is not a basis for an actual game and should never be sold. It is merely a demonstration of the technology, intended to show that the developers are capable of creating fun and engaging games using this technology. As an example, they used the successful game Overwatch to illustrate the possibilities that can be achieved with this technology.
They are still working on a “Legend of Titan” but the game won’t have much in common with the leaked scenes, although they would “draw some inspiration from it”. Whatever that may mean in this context.
Mein-MMO says: It seems that we will be spared from such a blatant Overwatch clone for now. However, it is suspicious that they have even copied the character design in minute detail – including the ability buttons and pretty much all aspects that make our Overwatch heroes. It still seems a bit strange, as even the name of the game, Legend of Titan, is a clear reference to Overwatch. So far, this looks like a very strange PR disaster.
