Blizzard is always striving to bring all heroes in Overwatch into balance. To achieve this, heroes are continuously adjusted and revamped. In a post in the official forums, Game Director Jeff Kaplan reveals which heroes will soon be reworked!
The balance of heroes in Overwatch always sparks discussions. In particular, the Overwatch League and the heroes favored there fuel these debates. However, those who really need an adjustment are usually filtered out by Blizzard only after long observations.
In response to the question of whether D.Va will finally get a nerf, a user in the official forum received a lot of criticism. Apparently, the community likes D.Va just the way she is. But even Game Director Jeff Kaplan himself speaks up and lists heroes that will receive adjustments in the near future:
- Mei
- Sombra
- Symmetra
- Doomfist
- Torbjörn
- Hanzo
Mei is finally getting buffed!
One of the names is Mei. The lovable Chinese researcher has been a concern for the community for some time. Although she is quite popular, Mei is rarely played because she can only shine in special situations.
The players have seen this problem for quite a while. Although Mei was once too strong, the subsequent adjustment hit her so hard that she has not found a true place in the game – except to secure as much time on points when the game was already lost.
However, Mei is now at the top of the list of heroes to be adjusted. Kaplan even mentions her as one of the three heroes likely to receive their updates first. Alongside her, Sombra and Doomfist are also in line, and possibly Hanzo depending on the development.
Kaplan is only talking about balancing here, not specifically about buffs. However, since Sombra, Doomfist, and Mei all struggle with their weaknesses, nerfs are highly unlikely.
D.Va stays as she is
In response to the creator’s question, Kaplan also replies. According to him, D.Va is currently very strong and is played a lot, but she is not on the team’s to-do list. No adjustments are planned for her.
This does not mean she will remain unchanged permanently. But before she is subjected to balancing, other heroes are more important. From past experiences, such actions also resolve other issues while simultaneously creating new ones. Who will be next under the knife remains to be seen.
