The race for the “best player” in Overwatch is most likely over. The first pro has reached a skill rating of 5000.
In Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch, there is always a player who is better and has a higher skill rating than yourself – with one exception. The player Koo Kyo Min, known in the game as “EVERMORE”, managed to achieve the incredible feat of reaching the maximum skill rating of 5000 just under 3 days after the start of Season 3 of Overwatch.
Overwatch: The best player in the world comes from South Korea
EVERMORE primarily plays Roadhog in Overwatch and boasts an impressive win rate. Even though he has only played 45 games since the start of the season, he has won 40 and lost just 5 – a win rate of nearly 90%!
Blizzard had announced beforehand that players would notice slight changes in Season 3, allowing more players to be placed in silver, gold, and platinum and to be “more distributed”. However, it is hard to prove if EVERMORE’s result is a result of that.
Last season, there were players who reached a skill rating of 5000, but that was due to a bug. Because if someone managed to be the worst and drop below the value of 0, their display simply jumped back to 5000.
However, EVERMORE is likely the first player in the world to have legally achieved the maximum skill cap. Will he be able to maintain it for long?
