Blizzard provides clarity and finally reveals when the “Anniversary Event” in Overwatch will take place.
Fans have long been waiting for an official announcement for the Anniversary Event of Overwatch. Now Blizzard has finally let the cat out of the bag. In a nearly four-and-a-half minute long video, the developers look back on a year of Overwatch. They showcase not only the highlights of the game itself – like new heroes, maps, and game modes – but also present numerous works from the community, including cosplays and artworks.
Overwatch Anniversary Event next week
At the end of the video comes the announcement that fans have been waiting for for several weeks.
The “Overwatch Anniversary Event” will take place from May 23 to June 12, 2017.
Specific content has not yet been presented. However, it is expected that there will be plenty of cosmetics raining down again, with which favorite heroes can be customized to personal (aesthetic) preferences.
Game of the Year Version of Overwatch
In line with the occasion, there is also a new “Game of the Year” version of the game, which will replace the old “Origins” version. Fundamentally, it contains the same goodies as the Origins version (bonus skins, goodies in other games). As a bonus, there are also 10 fresh loot boxes, which are filled, as usual, with skins, voicelines, emotes, and spray logos.
Furthermore, there was another promise: The events from last year will also be celebrated again this year (Summer Games, Halloween, etc.), though possibly with new additions. Additionally, Reaper will receive a “shoulder shrug” emote due to fans mocking a picture in the comic, which they have been demanding for weeks.
This should provide plenty of content for collectors for a long time.
