The new skin of Ana from Overwatch has caused an uproar in the community. “Is Blizzard cheating its customers?”
Currently, many players are flocking to Overwatch, as the Overwatch Halloween Terror 2017 event is in full swing. In addition to the popular mode of Junkrat’s Revenge, there are new loot boxes that are guaranteed to include some items from the event. With new skins available this year, the demand is high.
However, one skin is causing frustration among Overwatch players. The new skin of Ana, where she transforms into a classic pirate. Because the look “Corsair” makes players feel cheated.
In the preview of the skin, Ana has a small parrot sitting on her right shoulder – just as a true pirate maiden with an eye patch should.
The problem: In an actual match, Ana does not have the chattering bird sitting on her shoulder; it virtually does not exist.
On Reddit, players are now discussing whether the skin is misleading – after all, something different is being advertised than what one actually receives. The corresponding post had already received over 20,000 upvotes in just 14 hours, making it one of the most successful posts of this month on Reddit.
The community’s demands include two options:
- One should be able to “return” the skin for the full amount of credits or at least receive some compensation
- The parrot should be later implemented into the game and sit on her shoulder during matches
There is currently no statement from Blizzard on this issue. It is possible that Blizzard included the parrot in the preview only as an Easter Egg and decoration, but the “joke” backfired significantly. On the other hand, it may also be a bug preventing the parrot from being visible in the match.
A lot of drama over nothing or clearly “false advertising”? Did you also get upset about the skin? Or is it just a small pile of pixels that we shouldn’t get so worked up about?
