In the latest gameplay video of Blizzard’s upcoming shooter “Overwatch“, it revolves around the eager yet kind-hearted dwarf Torbjörn Lindholm, who is primarily known on the battlefield for his ability to set up turrets.
The Junker on a World Tour
Torbjörn uses his weapon, the rivet gun, to shoot small projectiles made of molten iron at his enemies. His true talent comes into play with the “Forge Hammer”. This can be used to build, upgrade, and repair turrets or to show enemies up close what the hammer is capable of.
Torbjörn has a unique resource, namely scrap. He collects this from defeated enemies and can use it to upgrade his personal turret. This does take some time, but it gives the stationary gun a second barrel (level 2) or even a rocket launcher (level 3). Alternatively, the scrap can also be used to activate the ability “Armor Pack”. The dwarf then drops a small power-up that grants the first teammate who picks it up (including Torbjörn) 75 extra armor points.
His ultimate ability “Molten Core” overheats the mobile forge and grants him a high armor value as well as plenty of scrap. In addition, all actions (shooting, building turrets, repairing) are performed faster; a typical Blizzard dwarf “Avatar” mode, indeed.
How the little engineer plays and why he forgets how many kills he actually has in true “Lord of the Rings” style, you can see for yourself:
