A reddit clip shows a brazen Overwatch 2 cheater in action. The community wonders if such wrong gameplay can even be fun.
On reddit user u/Sikyokooo posted an Overwatch 2 clip on October 17, 2022, showing the POTG of a brazen cheater. You can see the wild camera spinning of a Widowmaker player, who mysteriously takes down an opponent with every shot into the void.
What does POTG mean? The abbreviation POTG stands for “Play of the Game”. It is a video clip that showcases special game moments after a match. These are selected by an algorithm.
The POTG presents the event from the perspective of the player responsible for that moment. In this case, the video shows the perspective of the cheater, revealing his cheating.
This video contains all the important info about Overwatch 2 in 43 seconds:
“A free game for PC and hackers. Name a more iconic duo.”
What does the community say about it? Under the reddit video , the community expresses its opinion on cheating. Several reddit users do not understand what the appeal of cheating could be. The players wonder: “How can this be fun?” and: “It’s not even fun. Why do people do this? This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.”
Others write that cheaters should be reported immediately. However, there are also a few users who make it clear that the action in the video is a more obvious cheat, while many cheaters are much harder to identify.
You can watch the reddit video here:
Some users also take it humorously and joke about the camera spinning: “Super spinny office chair. Yay” or “No, she [Widowmaker] is just spinning in her pro gamer chair.”
How can you report cheaters in Overwatch 2? If you encounter a cheater in Overwatch 2, you can report them. You have two options as a PC player (via battle.net/support).
Either you go through the chat window:
- Right-click on the player’s name and select “Report”.
- Select the appropriate option
- Provide a description of what the player did
- Click on “Send Report”
As a second option, reporting can also be done via the “Social Menu” (this menu also allows console players to report cheaters):
- Open the “Social Menu”
- Go to the “Groups” or “Recent Players” menu
- Select the corresponding player from the list with a right-click
- Then select “Report”
- Select the corresponding option
- Provide a description of what the player did
- Click on “Send Report”
Even though such cheats are annoying for players, there have been much larger hacker attacks in the game. Right at the release hackers targeted Overwatch 2. Blizzard CEO Mike Ybarra stated in a statement that there had been a mass DDoS attack on the servers. And not just once – shortly thereafter, a second incident of this kind followed. Players were simply furious that hackers were ruining their fun in the game.
What experiences have you had with cheaters in games? Feel free to share in the comments.
