The next event in Overwatch 2 has started. This time, you can even earn a really cool skin. We will reveal what the event has in store.
In Overwatch 2, the next seasonal event is currently taking place. After the Halloween event, it’s now time for the “Winter Wonderland”, which is basically Overwatch 2’s Christmas event. Here, there are a number of new game modes, as well as some unlockable rewards, such as the Brigitte skin “Frost Queen”. We will reveal what the event has in store.
These new game modes are in the Arcade: This year again, there are several special game modes in the Arcade with a Christmas or winter theme. The four modes are:
- Mei’s Snowball Fight (Deathmatch): All 8 players play as Mei, but use snowballs instead of her usual weapon. Each player has only 3 shots but can reload from snow piles. There are no allies; here, everyone plays against everyone.
- Mei’s Snowball Fight (Team Deathmatch): In this 5vs5 mode, everyone plays as Mei again, but each has only one shot as a snowball. Reloading takes time, so be careful.
- Mei’s Yeti Hunt: In this mode for 6 people, 5 play as Mei and one as the big, bad Yeti (Winston). The Meis try to hunt and capture the Yeti before he collects enough meat to enter a berserk mode and quickly overcome the Meis.
- Frostbite Elimination: In this 4vs4 mode, defeated players are frozen but can be thawed by allies. The first team to freeze all opponents at the same time wins the round. Heroes who contributed to winning a round cannot be used in the next round.
What rewards are there? The most interesting reward is the “Frost Queen” skin for the healer Brigitte. The other rewards are mainly spray logos for the last 4 new heroes (Ramattra, Kiriko, Junker Queen, and Sojourn). As a weapon talisman, there is also the head of a snowman.
Besides that, completing the challenges also grants XP for the Battle Pass (1,500 each). So, it can be worth it to complete the challenges for this reason alone.
How do you get the rewards? To earn the rewards, you must complete various challenges. You can view these in the “Challenges” menu and then in the “Event” category. To get the Brigitte skin, you must complete at least 6 of the following challenges (each of which may bring its own rewards, such as spray logos):
How long is the event active? You have the chance to participate in the various game modes and earn the various rewards, such as the Brigitte skin, until January 5, 2023. So you can comfortably work on the challenges over the holidays and between the years.
Aside from all these things, Overwatch 2 naturally also uses the event to promote new skins and cosmetics in the shop that correspond to a Christmas theme. The selection updates every few days – so if you want to spend money and get new skins, you should check back regularly.
What do you think about the winter event in Overwatch 2? A nice thing or are there too few rewards?
