Overwatch 2 announced Season 1 of the shooter at the Tokyo Game Show 2022 and introduced a new hero. Some players already believe that she might be too strong.
Which hero is it? Overwatch 2 introduced the new support hero Kiriko in a gameplay trailer.
We will embed the impressive trailer of the new hero right here at the beginning. Below the trailer, we will delve deeper into her abilities and show where you can see them in the trailer.
Kiriko is a teleporting healer
What can Kiriko do? In Kiriko’s gameplay trailer, it is evident that she is expected to be a support hero who supports her teammates. For this, Kiriko throws so-called Ofuda talismans, which heal her teammates (minute 00:25).
In addition to her healing ability, Kiriko also possesses knives, called kunai, which she can throw at her enemies to inflict damage (minute 00:35).
However, the trailer particularly showcased a teleport ability, allowing the hero to travel through walls to reach her teammates (minute 00:40). Walls are therefore rarely a challenge for the new supporter, as she can climb them easily with her passive ability, just like Genji and Hanzo (minute 00:47).
At minute 00:53, we also see that Kiriko can throw a kind of bell on the ground near her allies, granting them a boost that apparently makes them temporarily invincible while also removing all debuffs from them.
Additionally, Kiriko is expected to pave the way for her teammates with her ultimate ability, providing them with increased movement speed, increased attack speed, faster reload speed, and reduced cooldowns (minute 01:11).
Players on Kiriko: ‘She looks like a support Genji’
What do players say? Many players find Kiriko’s displayed abilities impressive. While some are looking forward to her and see her as a good support hero, others are already concerned that she may be too strong (op = overpowered) (via YouTube).
- Tacotijn: ‘She looks like a support Genji and I can’t wait to try her out!’
- MJBGamez: ‘She looks insanely strong.’
- Lootto: ‘Yes, she will be OP at the start! Wall climbing, teleporting […] and whatever she did to stop the Junkrat tire.’
- LeFlairon: ‘Finally, supporters/healers are getting some love!’
- ShartCandy: ‘She looks so amazing – I’m afraid of the ability that saved her team from the tire.’
