Since October 4, 2022, players can play Overwatch 2 . However, for now, only in multiplayer mode. A PvE component for the hero shooter has already been announced – but when is the release, and will it cost anything?
The release of Overwatch 2 has already been a few weeks ago. With the major launch, only a multiplayer option was initially available for players. However, another mode has been announced by Blizzard: the PvE mode. But when will the expansion of the hero shooter be available?
What does the PvE mode include? On Blizzard’s news page, it currently states: “Additionally, we will advance the story with the release of the new PvE experience in 2023, along with more new heroes, maps, and game modes. We can’t wait to share more information with you shortly before the release! (via overwatch.blizzard.com)”.
We can therefore expect that additional content will also be integrated into the game with the new mode. The story is set to connect to the already known story from Overwatch. However, Blizzard does not provide more details about the PvE.

When is the release of the PvE mode? No specific date for the release of the PvE mode in Overwatch 2 has officially been published yet. So far, we only know that the PvE mode is supposed to come in 2023. Also, Blizzard’s news states:
“Additionally, we are looking forward to telling you more about the PvE mode next year. It remains very close to our team’s heart, and you will soon learn how it will proceed” (via overwatch.blizzard.com).
The Overwatch 2 players will probably have to wait until 2023 for more comprehensive information about the PvE mode.
How much does the PvE mode cost? Blizzard has not yet provided exact information on this either. The game changed from a paid title to a free-to-play game with a battle pass system and in-game purchases compared to its predecessor.
However, it is possible that this payment model only applies to the currently available multiplayer mode and that the PvE will be handled differently.
Is there a beta for the PvE mode? There has already been a beta for the multiplayer of Overwatch 2, in which players could test the shooter in advance. However, there is currently no beta available for the PvE mode.
Currently, the information regarding the Overwatch 2 PvE is still quite scarce. Blizzard has revealed hardly any details and initially focused on the multiplayer aspect of the hero shooter at the release.
