If you want skins in Overwatch 2, you should play World of Warcraft. Because there you can unlock the stylish cosmetics much faster …
Unlocking skins in Overwatch 2 is a topic that is often and widely discussed. After all, many skins could still be earned in Overwatch 1, but now in the sequel, this is no longer possible and requires the use of real money. However, some clever fans have found another way to get their skins in Overwatch 2 – they just play more World of Warcraft.
As absurd as it sounds, it is more efficient compared to the conventional method.
What is the problem? If you want to unlock skins in Overwatch 2, you either have to spend real money or have a lot of patience. Because you can earn a maximum of 60 Overwatch coins per week. With prices of up to 1,900 coins per skin, you need a staggering 32 weeks at best – and only if you really complete all the challenges every week.
Why can you earn skins better in WoW? The catch is that there is the so-called “WoW Token” in World of Warcraft. Players can use the gold they earn in World of Warcraft to buy such a token in the auction house. The token can then be exchanged for 30 days of game time in World of Warcraft – or for €13 of Battle.net credit. This €13 of Battle.net credit can be spent on Overwatch coins. €13 correspond to approximately 1,300 Overwatch coins.
How long does it take to farm that much gold in WoW? It is difficult to say in general because it depends on the play style, gaming skill, and also experience. For example, those who can offer special services in the game, such as guiding through tough dungeons, can earn enough gold for a token in just one evening. Auction house masters can also become wealthy in just a few days.
If you play WoW just “normally” and farm gold in a regular way, such as through quests, crafting materials, and comparable sources, you could take around a whole month for an amount of about 340,000 gold.
But even then, you can earn Overwatch coins many times faster than it would be possible by playing Overwatch 2.
Community reacts amused: In the Overwatch 2 subreddit, this possibility and its absurdity are already being discussed at length. Some players say:
- “If they get us to play other games to unlock Overwatch stuff, we might not notice all the things that weren’t fixed at release.”
- “That’s exactly how I unlocked the battle pass; I earn about $45 a month with WoW.”
- “Blizzard is currently playing 4D chess and trying to increase the number of WoW players again.”
So if you have a bit of WoW gold saved up, you can get yourself a skin or two in Overwatch 2 – or just throw real money at the problem.
Have you spent gold to buy something in Overwatch 2?
