In a few days, the beta of Overwatch 2 is starting the next round. We will tell you how to sign up – and even how you can guarantee a spot.
Somewhat spontaneously, Blizzard revealed a lot about Overwatch 2 in the past few days. Not only was the release date in early October announced, but also the start of a new beta phase, giving you the chance to test many new contents before launch. We will tell you how to get into the beta and what contents are available there.
When does the beta for Overwatch 2 start? The next beta of Overwatch 2 starts on June 28, 2022, at 8:00 PM. It will run until July 18.
How do you sign up for the Overwatch 2 beta? The easiest way is through the official website of Overwatch 2. Log in on the page with your Battle.net account, scroll down, and select from the drop-down menu which platform you want to request beta access for Overwatch 2. Then click on “Request beta access” – Done! The page should now reload, and the sign-up button should disappear. Instead, the message: “Thanks for signing up, [Accountname]!” should appear on the screen in green text.
Do you guaranteed get into the beta if you were in the first? No. Just because you had access to the first beta of Overwatch 2, access to the second beta is not guaranteed. You must sign up again and hope for access once more.
Is there a guaranteed way to get into the beta? Yes. If you don’t want to rely on luck and are already sure that you want to play Overwatch 2 at launch, you can purchase the “Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack” in the shop. This guarantees immediate access to the beta as soon as it starts on June 28. Additionally, the pack includes:
- Two legendary hero skins “Space Raider” for Soldier: 76 and Cassidy.
- The premium Battle Pass for the first season, which starts in October with early access.
- 2,000 units of the in-game currency of Overwatch 2 for the cosmetic shop.
- A player icon that is only available for the pre-sale of Overwatch 2.
- The Legendary Edition for Overwatch (1) with 5 epic and 5 legendary skins (which are also available in Overwatch 2).
Do you have to buy Overwatch 2? No. Overwatch 2 will, at least concerning the multiplayer mode, be a free-to-play game with optional cosmetic purchases. Therefore, it is not necessary to buy the game now in advance or later. If you are not in a hurry and do not want to be part of the beta, you also do not have to spend any money.
What’s in the beta? In the beta, the multiplayer mode and the new hero “Junker Queen” will be tested. As Overwatch changes its format from 6v6 to 5v5, there will be some new features and role shifts.
The PvE campaign is not available in the beta and will also not be launched with Overwatch 2. The PvE mode is expected to launch in 2023.
Have you signed up for the Overwatch 2 beta yet? Or are you waiting for the release before you get more into the game?
