The hype around Fortnite is growing larger. Now the famous rapper Drake is playing the battle royale along with the star streamer Ninja. The duo breaks the viewer record on Twitch.
In the Fortnite community, the streamer “Ninja” is practically a star. In recent weeks, we have already reported on him, how he set new subscriber records and earned $250,000 a month.
Epic’s Fortnite is also played by big stars from the music industry, and they think Ninja is cool too. The well-known rapper and actor Aubrey “Drake” Graham recently followed Ninja on Instagram – now they are playing Fortnite together. The shared fanbase of both has now broken a viewer record on Twitch.
Twitch Viewer Record – Over 600k!
This morning, on March 15, the rapper Drake and the streamer Ninja had a digital meeting. After some communication issues followed by a fan incident involving Ninja’s wife, viewers could finally watch the duo playing together.
Drake and Ninja are connected via Discord, playing crossplay with Drake on PS4 and Ninja on PC.
At the start of the stream, many viewers were already present, wanting to watch the spectacle. There were about 200,000. Later the rapper tweeted that he was currently playing Fortnite with Ninja and linked the stream on Twitter. That was the moment for the viewer explosion. After all, Drake has 36 million followers on Twitter.
Of the 36 million, some are not only fans of his music but also want to see the rapper play. Over 600,000 people were watching live as Drake and Ninja played Fortnite together. That’s a new Twitch record! We are still waiting for official numbers from Twitch (or Ninja), but at most there were between 607,000 and 630,000 viewers watching the stream simultaneously.
During the stream, Ninja asked how long Drake has been playing Fortnite. He says he has been playing the game for about two months. During his stays in recording studios, there is often downtime where the rapper can relax. Then it would be time for gaming.
