On July 28, Blizzard explained the near future of Diablo 4 in a new Campfire Chat. With patch notes for patch 1.1.1 and a bunch of buffs, the developers have received praise from players. Only one place is still complaining: Reddit.
What is Blizzard doing better?
- In the latest stream, Blizzard introduced extensive changes and buffs for all classes, especially for Sorceresses and Barbarians.
- Additionally, there are guaranteed legendary items for many activities, a higher monster density, and further improvements to the game’s quality.
- After the significant criticism of patch 1.1.0, the changes have been received extremely positively almost across the board.
This is how players are reacting: The stream was broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube. At its peak, over 47,400 viewers watched it on Twitch alone (via sullygnome), with similarly high numbers on YouTube.
The atmosphere in the chat was initially skeptical to even hostile but was repeatedly flooded with “W” during the presentation of the changes. This stands for “Win”, meaning: “Everything has been done right.” Particularly well received were:
- Buffs to the Sorceress and Druid
- increased monster density in Nightmare dungeons and Hell floods
- Improvements for Ultimates, Legendaries, and skills that are to be brought up to par with the currently very strong “Vulnerable” status
Even though there were some cynics who accused players of various things we would rather not repeat, the mood in the chat was remarkably positive. Especially considering the stream the week before, where developers faced outright hatred.
Even Season 1 had to deal directly with mockery and criticism:
“What does a life feel like where you hate everything?”
The only truly negative reactions are accumulating on Reddit. There, fans of the game and critics of Diablo 4 have been arguing for some time. No matter what announcement Blizzard makes: Someone will always complain and bring down the mood.
The colleagues from GameStar have already reported that players are ruining their fun on Reddit.
This also happened immediately after the Campfire Chat, which only announced buffs and improvements. In one thread, users discuss all changes, and in another specifically about the extensive buffs for the Sorceress.
In both cases, comments complaining that the buffs were insufficient, that Diablo 4 is doomed, appeared quite quickly after the release. Some of the comments cannot be found anymore because they were rated too negatively.
Meanwhile, at the top, with the highest approval, are comments from users who cannot understand such criticism at all. The upcoming patch 1.1.1 is truly all positive. Anyone who still complains should consider leaving.
Some users are also saying that the subreddit for Diablo 4 is no longer a pleasant place. Since shortly after release, only negative sentiment seems to accumulate there, and it is no longer fun to discuss the game there. Streamers are likely contributing to this:
