The release of the cooperative shooter Outriders is coming soon. Players who have already pre-ordered the game can now preload it on nearly all platforms.
When does the preload start? If you have purchased Outriders, you are likely able to download the game. Today, on March 30, 2021, preloading started on almost every platform where you can play the game.
- On Xbox One and Xbox Series X, the preload has been available for a while. You can download it there already.
- On PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the preload was released today, March 30. Players report that they have already started the download (via reddit).
- The preload is also available on Steam from now on. This was announced on the official Outriders Twitter channel on March 30 at 6:00 PM.
- According to current information, there will be no preload in the Epic Games Store.
Additionally, the tweet shared the minimum, recommended, and optimal system requirements for the game on PC. Recommended for a gameplay experience at 1080p and 60 FPS are, for example:
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel i7-7700 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
- Memory: 16 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB
- DirectX 12
- Storage: 70 GB

If you still don’t know if the game is for you, check out the demo. The demo of Outriders will be available for a while and all progress will transfer to the purchased game.
Download Size and Release Times
How big is the download? If you want to start the preload, you might want to free up some storage space if your hard drives are already full. The download sizes are expected to be as follows depending on the platform (via MP1st):
- PS4: approx. 67 GB
- PS5: approx. 46 GB
- Xbox Series X|S: approx. 48 GB
- Xbox One: approx. 61 GB
- PC: approx. 70 GB
Therefore, the next-gen consoles have slightly smaller download sizes, which should please everyone, especially those running out of storage space.
When is the Outriders release? The official release of the cooperative shooter is April 1, 2021. The exact times vary from platform to platform:
- On Xbox and PlayStation consoles, you can play starting from April 1 at 00:00.
- On PC, the start is available from April 1 at 18:00.
