So far, the upcoming loot shooter Outriders has kept quite a secret about its fourth and final playable class. Now it has been revealed – and tested in new cooperative scenes.
This is the last class: Outriders – the game that looks like a mix of Diablo and Anthem – is getting closer. During the recent Outriders broadcast, the developers unveiled the secret of the fourth missing class. The “Technomancer” rounds out the quartet that you can play in Outriders. Previously known were:
- The Pyromancer
- The Devastator
- And the Trickster
This is what the Technomancer can do: The Technomancer relies heavily on technological tools. He has a whole arsenal of gadgets at his disposal that he can unleash on his enemies. These include among others:
- Turrets
- Mines
- Rocket Launchers
- Miniguns
He is the tactical specialist among the Outriders and also has the ability to heal his teammates. He is extremely valuable in co-op – which is why he was also introduced with new co-op gameplay. You can watch the trailer for the Technomancer (from minute 2:40) and the new gameplay (from minute 6:55) here:
Outriders introduces co-op in more detail
This is what you can see: In the video, the explosive gameplay can be seen that was expected during the presentation of Outriders. In the co-op video, you can see, among other things, the Technomancer working together with the Devastator class.
There is a shift between battles in open terrain and close duels in the trenches – all quite explosive and loud.
It quickly becomes clear that in Outriders there are several paths to victory. A wild mix of skills comes into play – just a moment ago a magical firestorm was unleashed, shortly after that an automatic turret mows down the enemies. Meanwhile, there is plenty of shooting going on.
Can everything be played in co-op? During the broadcast, it was explained in a Q&A that Outriders has a drop-in/drop-out multiplayer system. As soon as the prologue is finished, you can play everything with friends – optionally with strangers or alone.
If you end up in a lobby where players have progressed further in the story, the game will warn you in advance.
What else was shown? The broadcast also provided a closer look at the Devastator class. Here, you could admire the abilities of the Devastator, who resembles a mix of Hulk and Earthbender.
The Devastator can throw boulders and gains health when he mows down nearby enemies. He can create a rock that pulls enemies like a black hole, and he can shoot dangerous spikes out of the ground.
Last but not least, he can also stop bullets in the air like Neo from the Matrix and throw them back at his enemies – quite versatile.
Outriders is set to be the big loot shooter this coming winter. How the game is doing has been summarized here by MeinMMO colleague Noah Struthoff.
