In June, Outriders is finally getting its first major DLC: Worldslayer. The large addon expands pretty much everything from the main game and brings numerous new content and features. MeinMMO gives you an overview.
What is Worldslayer? This is the first major add-on to the loot shooter Outriders, which was recently revealed. It expands the game in almost all areas:
- The story campaign continues and brings a new main enemy to face. You will fight against Ereshkigal, who is also changed and thus has special abilities like the Outriders.
- There will be new skills, armor, and weapons. Additionally, existing systems will be expanded and especially in the endgame, you should be able to further develop your character beyond what was possible in the main game.
- Furthermore, there are new difficulty levels, and the existing challenges system will be overhauled.
- There will also be some new endgame mechanics and activities.
The DLC will be released on June 30 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Google Stadia.
The DLC costs 40 euros. Together with the main game, you will currently have to pay 80 euros.
This is difficult to say due to the different difficulty levels. However, the story content should offer between 4 to 10 hours of gameplay, plus the new endgame activities.
What is known so far about Worldslayer can be found here in our overview. Before that, you can check out the reveal trailer for the DLC:

What is the story expansion about? The anomaly, which already represents a major mystery in the main game, also plays an important role in the DLC.
To get to the bottom of it, you will be sent to new areas plagued by snow and ice storms. Many details are still unknown, but our new main enemy has already been introduced:
Ereshkigal is the leader of the so-called “Human Insertion” faction and will probably be the next major threat. She is also a “Changed” and threatens the existence of the humans who found refuge on Enoch.
To defeat her, you will need to venture into new areas, gather stronger weapons and armor, and further enhance your abilities. You will need them to face the new threats.
There will be new variants of already known enemies, but also numerous completely new foes and monsters. But besides the loot, there will also be a new progression system that allows you to further customize your character in the endgame.
The new Ascension system lets you improve your attributes
This is how it works: With Worldslayer, Outriders receives four new categories that you can further improve on your character thanks to the new Ascension system:
- Endurance
- Brutality
- Prowess
- Anomaly Power
In total, you can collect 200 Ascension points, which you can distribute freely across these four categories. Each category improves various attributes of your character.
As with the already known skill trees, you can reset and redistribute your points for free at any time. This makes new experiments possible and you can further optimize your builds.
New challenge levels, Apocalypse gear, and activities overhaul the endgame
Here’s what is changing in the challenge levels: The known challenge levels from the expeditions will be eliminated. Instead, there will be new Apocalypse tiers that go up to level 40 and are intended to be even more challenging.
Currently, we do not know exactly how this will work.
This is the new endgame activity: Besides the expeditions, the new activity “Trial of Tarya Gratar” is supposed to expand the endgame. We do not have exact information about it yet, but there is talk of an even greater threat. Since expeditions were not received particularly well by players, hopes are certainly placed on a meaningful expansion of gameplay here.
This activity is supposed to be a completely new mode in which you track down the civilization of the Pax and explore their ruins. These are the actual indigenous people of the planet Enoch, who already play a significant role in the campaign.
For loot collectors, the new Apocalypse gear should also be exciting. It allows you to obtain both new and old legendary sets with an additional perk.
You can now get 3 perks per equipment piece instead of the previously allowed maximum of two. This is supposed to significantly increase the build possibilities.

Who benefits from the DLC and how is Outriders doing in general?
This is the current state of the game: Outriders was one of the most controversial games of spring 2021. While gameplay, story, and loot system received a lot of praise, there were massive server issues, serious bugs, and glitches.
It took a while, but with the “New Horizon” update, Outriders is finally in a mostly flawless state. New features like a transmog system rounded things off. Additionally, a lot of community feedback has been implemented and the expeditions have been overhauled, for example. However, in the meantime, many players have lost interest.
Here you can find a detailed summary of the current state:
Who is Worldslayer worth it for? Primarily, developer People Can Fly wants to bring back players who had fun with the main game and want more. But they also want to win back players who left in frustration.
During a playtest event, MeinMMO author Tarek Zehrer was able to take a brief look at a section of the new campaign. Here are his impressions after playing:
I was only able to get a quick look at the DLC, but even that surprised me positively. In my opinion, there is little to shake up in the core gameplay of Outriders; there were no major surprises here.
However, what stood out positively to me: The presentation of the story and the missions played was more epic and cinematic than a large part of the main story. The levels also seem to be more varied. Although I haven’t been able to extensively test the new features like the Ascension system yet, at first glance, the DLC seems to build on all the aspects that Outriders did well in the main game and improves them again.
But it’s still too early to draw a conclusion. I personally look forward to returning to Enoch.

What is it like for completely new players? New players now find one of the most rounded loot shooters of the past years with the main game and could subsequently play even more content with Worldslayer.
Even if the DLC is aimed at “veterans,” there has probably never been a better time to start with Outriders. Outriders especially appeals to players who:
- Are looking for an entertaining and off-the-wall third-person shooter.
- Want to try out unique classes that differ significantly from each other and have really cool abilities.
- Enjoy playing cooperatively with up to two other players, while Outriders can also be played solo.
- Do not value PvP, as there is none in Outriders.
In the endgame, the game does become significantly more grind-heavy, but even if you’re not into that, you can spend at least 20 hours solo with the campaign, as long as you don’t rush through the game on the lowest difficulty.
Outriders is currently also in the Xbox Game Pass if you want to try out the shooter.
If you want to jump in directly with the DLC, you can also start with a new character at level 30. However, it is generally recommended to complete the main game first, especially if you value the story.
