How it continues with Outriders after release is currently unclear. Now the developer People Can Fly has commented in an interview about possible DLCs and their scope.
From the beginning, it was planned for Outriders to come to market as a “finished” game. Now it was released on April 1. Although there are no known plans for the future, the developers have never ruled out that it could continue. Recently we reported that Outriders would receive DLCs if the loot shooter becomes a success.
What’s new? After the release, developer People Can Fly has now once again commented on the future of Outriders. For the first time, there is information on what one or more DLCs could look like.

This is what the developers say about DLCs: In response to the question about the future, the developers reiterate that they have never ruled out adding more content to Outriders. And it seems that People Can Fly already has an idea of what future DLCs would look like if the desired success occurs.
If DLCs come, players can hope for extensive expansions with their own stories. Literally, it says:
We never said we would abandon the game [after release]. This is not a Game-as-a-Service, but if players want it, we will definitely bring more into the Outriders universe. We still have so many more stories to tell and a lot of ideas we want to try, which we couldn’t implement into the main game. So we would be happy to create more content in the future. Everything we would do would be in the form of a significant expansion with self-contained stories.

Kmita does not provide details on this, but it indicates possible story expansions, perhaps even with new classes?

How likely are DLCs? It is currently hard to say. On Steam, Outriders is a huge success. For example, the release of Marvel’s Avengers was three times overprinted, with over 100,000 concurrent players in Outriders, while it was only 28,000 for Avengers. (via Forbes)

Demo was played longer than expected
What else was said? In the interview, among other already known things, it was about insights from the demo, the numerous loading screens, and a possible increase in the level cap. Here’s the summary:
- They were surprised at how much time people spent with the demo. They would have expected that activities in the full game would be repeated so often, but not already in the small demo version where only one chapter was playable.
- Kmita justifies the many loading screens by stating that they wanted to prevent players from spreading too far across the maps. They want Outriders to be played together. The cutscenes were added for technical reasons.
- It is still unclear whether there could be an increase in the level cap similar to Borderlands. However, they are considering it.
