It took a long time, but the restoration of lost items in Outriders is finally underway. Players who were not affected are receiving really strong legendaries back that they didn’t even lose.
What happened? On May 5th, the item restoration in Outriders started. Most affected players of the severe inventory bug received at least some of their lost items back.
What kind of bug was that? After the first patch for Outriders, a serious bug occurred that could cause players to lose their entire inventory.
Some players were able to log in with their “naked” character, while others were completely locked out. The restoration was supposed to solve the problem and return the items to the players. The developers promised that all items would appear as god rolls (with perfect values) in the inventory.
This took quite a while and caused frustration among those affected. But now the wait is finally over for the players, and the restoration is in progress. However, not as the developers originally planned it.
God Roll Legendaries for (almost) everyone!
What went differently? With the second wave of restoration on May 6th, many players experienced a surprise. Nearly every player who sold or lost legendary weapons due to a bug received these back as god rolls.
Logically, only the affected players should have received their items back. Now, however, numerous players are enjoying their god rolls.
How could this happen? The developers actually had a different plan. Players were divided into three groups:
- Group A – Unplayable characters with invalid inventory
- Group B – Characters without invalid inventory who still lost everything
- Group C – Players who are not affected by the bug
- This is just a brief summary, the whole situation is more complex.
Each of the groups played a role in the restoration, which the developers had to calculate precisely to avoid making further mistakes.
Ultimately, the whole process took so much time that Patch 1.07 was released before the restoration, although it was originally planned the other way around. The developers stated:
Since we cannot definitively distinguish players in Group B from those in Group C, both Group B and Group C will benefit from the restoration.
Even if they are NOT affected by an inventory wipe, they may receive up to 20 god roll legendaries that they may have previously lost due to a bug or sold to a vendor (dismantled items will not be restored, as our analysis shows they were not lost due to the bug).

What does the community say about this? Most players are logically happy about their god roll items. Some are just surprised initially.
For example, TitanGrimstrike writes: “You didn’t have a character/inventory wipe, but logged in to find 99.4k weapons…”
Some are happy that they even got legendaries back that they knew nothing about. Others are confused about which items were restored.
For instance, lordtyr writes: “Honestly, [The developers’ explanation] must be pretty inaccurate, or something is glitched again. I definitely never sold Deathshield or Guillotine, I had both of them on my character most of the time. Logged in, just to find one of each still, both as god rolls. Other players report similar findings. But that was not the only thing that happened during the restoration. Many players affected by the bug also experienced an additional surprise.
Many epic items they received back now have 2 rank 3 modifications. These are the highest mods in the game. As a result, these items are now essentially as powerful as legendary items.
They even have an advantage, as legendary mods can always be found with one rank 3 and one rank 2 mod.
What’s else going on in Outriders? Right now, an armor bug is causing unrest. This bug came to light due to the last patch and is affecting some players’ endgame, as enemies are dealing extremely high damage: Outriders: New patch brings new problems: “Is now worse than at release”
