The demo for the new RPG shooter Outriders started today, on February 25 at 18:00. However, there were issues with the PS Store and access to the servers at launch.
What is going on with the demo? The demo for the shooter Outriders officially launched at 18:00. We have summarized everything important about the demo here. However, there are currently issues with the server and the PS Store.

Update February 25, 21:15: As if we had summoned it, the links in the PS Store and the search on the consoles now seem to be working.
Update February 25, 21:12: So far, there are no special updates to report. However, we will stay on top of it and update the article if something changes with the PS4/PS5.
Update February 25, 20:42: On reddit, there have been some complaints about cutscenes stuttering at 30 FPS and motion blur in the game. Both are said to be adjusted before release, the developers revealed. An option to enable and disable motion blur is expected:
Update February 25, 20:31: Outriders has officially acknowledged the issue with the links in Germany and is working on addressing the problems.
Update February 25, 20:26: On reddit, there is also an initial discussion about the DualSense controller for PS5. Outriders is reportedly not using the adaptive triggers that the controller offers. However, it’s possible that this will be added before release.
Update February 25, 20:14: Outriders itself has now posted links for German players in the PS Store. However, many are reporting in the comments below the tweet that the links are not working. Are they working for you?

There are still no links for PS4/PS5 in Germany. However, the stores in America, England, and Austria have been reported as functioning. Unfortunately, changing the region in the PS Store does not help.
Update February 25, 19:55: In a new tweet, the developers report that there are currently bottleneck situations causing some players to be unable to log in. Work is already underway to resolve it.
Update February 25, 19:53: Outriders should be available for PC on GeForce Now in addition to Steam. However, Outriders is not yet listed there.
Update February 25, 19:46: There are still isolated reports of connection issues, but also many users who can now play. Initial assessments are already being made:
- The reddit user blobnomcookie praises the atmospheric start and the dialogues. However, he criticizes that he could not make any settings on the PC before the first cutscene and notes some “jumbled” graphics with regard to vegetation.
- The user charlieswade particularly praises the voice acting in the game (in English).
- The user Eillusion praises the graphics on the PS5 and does not understand the criticism or attributes it to the older generation.
Update February 25, 19:42: The demo for Outriders is still not found in the PS Store, by the way. This seems to be only the case in Germany. In Austria and the USA, it is clearly not a problem.

Update February 25, 19:27: The developers have announced via Twitter that server capacities have been increased and players can now try out the demo.
Update February 25, 19:25: Another issue that is currently occurring is a grayed-out button for “New Game.” Instead, some users report that they can currently join only co-op games.
We would like to point out that the developers have promised that the demo can also be played completely solo.
Update February 25, 19:22: On reddit, there is initial feedback about Outriders. It seems that the cutscenes are exhausting because they constantly move the camera. This has led to some criticism, and warnings about motion sickness have been issued.
Update February 25, 19:20: Players report that they can log in to Outriders, watch the cutscene, and create a character. Some players in the MeinMMO team have also managed to do this.
Update February 25, 19:11: On reddit, there are reports that some players have defeated the first boss, the “Authenticator.” However, this did not take them any further, as the game freezes when logging in afterwards.

Update February 25, 18:49: Currently, some users have reported that they have already downloaded Outriders but cannot access the game servers on PC, PS4/PS5, and Xbox.
There are comments about this on MeinMMO, in the Outriders subreddit, and under the new trailer.
Update February 25, 18:47: There also seem to be problems on PC. Some players report that they cannot access the servers.
Update February 25, 18:30: Players report that they can download Outriders on Steam and Xbox without any issues. Only the PS Store seems to have problems. Although Sony references a subpage for the game on social media, the link currently leads to nowhere.
Players from other countries, however, report that the demo is available for them. We will keep you updated regarding the PS Store.
Action-packed trailer shows everything that a shooter heart desires
What is Outriders? It is a third-person shooter set in a dark sci-fi setting. You can venture out alone or in a group of up to three players.
Outriders describes itself as a full-fledged RPG with a story campaign and compares itself to games like Diablo 3. You can choose from 4 character classes with which you can explore the game world and defeat enemies. Outriders is set to release on April 1, 2021.
Coinciding with the launch of the demo, the developer People Can Fly also released a new trailer.
What can be seen in the new trailer? In the first few seconds, the trailer shows gunfights, abilities, and a huge monster that can be fought. This continues throughout the entire video, showcasing in-game scenes from the demo:
- Weapons and vehicles can be seen
- There are explosions and fights
- There is a first glimpse into the story
- Various abilities that can be utilized are shown
The trailer is complemented by a music that invites to embark on a journey and is somewhat reminiscent of Borderlands.
In the last section of the trailer, the most important features of the demo are revealed:
- Players can experience the full prologue and the start of the game
- It can be played solo or in co-op
- All 4 classes are available
- Progress can be transferred to the main game later
