The loot shooter Outriders could become a real storage hog on your PC. Players report that they have up to 23 GB of unnecessary files from Outriders on their hard drives. We will show you how to avoid this.
This is the problem: Outriders struggled with massive server issues right at release. The game kept crashing, and this problem is still affecting PC players.
Players report numerous crash reports that they find in their Outriders folder. It even got to the point where a fan shared a photo on reddit showing 23 GB of crash reports filling up his hard drive.
Crash reports fill up hard drive – What to do?
How do these crash reports occur? When Outriders crashes, you are asked for a report for this crash. Normally, these reports are not permanently stored on the hard drive. With Outriders, however, this seems to be different, at least for numerous players.
This is what players show: On reddit, there are some players who are astonished by the huge amounts of data from the crash reports. A thread by Toasteroven shows a total of 23 GB of data. Under the thread, several players report having at least 10 GB of crash report data on their hard drives.
How can you deal with this? Simply put: Just delete these files. To do this, you need to open the folder “/Users/[username]/AppData/Local/Madness/Saved/Crashes” and delete the files there. However, make sure to only delete this content, as you still need the other files in the “Saved” folder.
It may also be that you are not affected or that there is only a small amount of data in the folder.
Expect this: The developers have been dealing with technical issues since release. For example, there is a bug that steals all your loot. Although Outriders has now released patch 1.05 , problems still occur afterwards.
So expect that this error with the unnecessary occupied storage space will be fixed in one of the upcoming updates. However, if you want to clean up your hard drive right now, you can remove the file.
