The developers of Outriders have announced server maintenance for Thursday, April 8, 2021. Along with the announcement, they also revealed that the first major patch is coming. This patch is set to fix several bugs and issues – including a particularly nasty bug that can delete all equipment.
What kind of update is this? With the first major update for Outriders, numerous bugs that have caused problems since the launch on April 1 will be fixed. The main points in the update are:
- Numerous bug fixes
- A gift to the community for their patience
- Restoration for players who lost their inventory due to a nasty bug
- Balancing (apparently already live)
- Improved connection and stability for co-op
- Restoration of crossplay
This is the first real update. Previously, there were minor hotfixes that only addressed specific issues.
When will the update be released? The developers mention that the update is expected to be released “next week”, likely between April 12 and 16. Apparently, the patch will come for all platforms, but it is still unclear whether it will be released at the same time.
Another server maintenance took place today, on April 8, between 6:30 PM and 6:45 PM. However, this has no direct connection with the major update.
Server Maintenance and Patch Notes – What’s included in the upcoming update
What’s included in the update: The upcoming first major patch brings a number of bug fixes. We have summarized the most important ones for you here:
- Stuttering when using DirectX 11 and 12 should disappear (PC)
- Diverse crashes should no longer occur, such as in multiplayer, during the mission “A Bad Day” or at startup. Also, random crashes should be less frequent.
- The HUD should no longer disappear spontaneously
- Crossplay will be re-enabled when all platforms have the same version.
Additionally, a bug that leads to equipment loss will be fixed or at least reduced. You can find the complete patch notes in the developers’ post (via Steam and reddit).
What exactly is this bug? Until recently, there was a bug that caused players to lose their entire inventory. This primarily occurred when they tried to join the lobbies of other players.
A crash then caused the entire inventory to vanish and the character was left naked. Even after some issues with co-op were resolved, it was advisable to still play solo during this time.
This issue is expected to be fixed with the update, and players who have lost their inventory will receive a restoration of all lost items. The restoration is set to take place in the coming weeks.
Balancing and Nerfs for Some Classes
These are the balancing adjustments: In addition to bug fixes, there will be new balancing. The repeatable gathering quests (Hunter, Bounty, and Historian) will no longer reward you with legendary items when completed multiple times.
Furthermore, it will be harder to reach the highest rank in some of the expeditions. Expeditions are the endgame content of Outriders, which many players repeat to farm loot.
There will also be adjustments to the classes. Many of the so-called “Bullet Builds” that rely on a skill that enhances shots will be nerfed. One of these builds is the Technomancer’s Pest Control build, which is considered top-tier. According to our readers on MeinMMO, these changes are apparently already live.
Which classes are affected? According to the developers, especially Assassins and Technomancers have been able to gain significant advantages from the builds without having to invest much. This should now become more balanced, but it remains to be seen how strong the changes will be.
The devs emphasize that the balancing is managed by a separate team. Progress on working on the patch is not affected by balancing and does not influence the elimination of bugs.
Developers’ Apology Package for the Botched Launch
This gift you will receive: The developers also apologize in the patch notes for the problems at launch, especially for connection errors that often led to disconnects. For these problems, there is a gift for all affected players:
- a legendary weapon (according to character level)
- Titan (amount according to character level)
- the emote “Frustration”, which cannot currently be obtained in any other way
Every player who played between March 31 and April 11 or lost their inventory due to a crash will receive such a package. The rewards will be credited to the character with the highest level.
What’s next? In the coming weeks and patches, further work will continue on the stability and connection for multiplayer. So you should soon finally be able to play properly with friends.
Until then, you can also try your new weapons from the apology package solo. If you are not satisfied with the weapon you received, you can also definitely obtain other legendaries:
