Outraged Christians wanted to have the series discontinued on Amazon, turned to Netflix, and got the perfect answer

When Good Omens premiered on Amazon Prime in 2019, more than 21,000 Christians were outraged by the portrayal of biblical themes in the series and sent a petition … to Netflix. Subsequently, the two streaming providers amused themselves greatly on X.com/Twitter.

Good Omens is about the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, who together want to stop the Armageddon. Moreover, God is voiced by a woman in the series, and the four horsemen of the apocalypse are portrayed as significantly more modern, riding motorcycles.

This did not sit well with a group of American Christians, the US Foundation for Christian Civilization, who had previously been known for radical views, particularly against the LGBTQ+ community.

In their eyes, the series Good Omens is satanic and should be canceled. Thus, the Christians started a petition that gathered over 21,000 signatures and directed it to Netflix.

“Okay, we promise not to make any more”

What the 21,000 Christians apparently did not know is that Good Omens is an Amazon Prime production and they had addressed their petition to the wrong streaming provider and competitor.

So Netflix shortly replied on X.com/Twitter with simply: “Okay, we promise not to make any [season] more.”

Then Amazon Prime also chimed in, responding to the competitor with a winking smiley: “Hey @netflix, we will cancel Stranger Things if you cancel Good Omens” (via X.com).

Below, users celebrate the response from the two streaming providers, amused by witnessing a friendly exchange between the two companies.

They laughed at the absurdity of the situation and how the 21,000 Christians could overlook such an important detail as the correct addressee.

In the end, the petition could not stop Amazon Prime from giving fans a second season of Good Omens, which was released in 2023.

But that’s not all. The streaming provider has already announced a third season that is set to conclude the story of Aziraphale and Crowley.
