On February 21, it was announced that Twitch streamer Asmongold is no longer part of the content creator group One True King (OTK) that he founded. In hindsight, he considers it the biggest mistake of his life to have been part of and to have founded the group.
This is what Asmongold says: The 34-year-old streamer states that he and OTK have mutually agreed to part ways.
He is now creating political content and does not want to burden anyone with it:
I create controversial political content. It’s very hard to reconcile that with content that isn’t like that. Because it’s so extreme and so polarizing. So it was difficult to find sponsors. And it makes other things harder too.
Asmongold says he has not had anything to do with OTK for a while anyway. In October 2024, he stepped down from a leadership position in OTK following his Twitch ban.
OTK caused too much social pressure
Why was OTK a mistake for him? Asmongold elaborated that OTK was “the biggest mistake of his life” because the social obligations and pressures that came with the company had a “toxic” effect on his mental and physical state.
He says his involvement with the company was so stressful that he had to go to the emergency room due to high blood pressure:
OTK basically made me commit too much to social events and activities that I wasn’t comfortable with. And I didn’t really understand why that was bad for me until it was too late.
Asmongold makes politics – OTK makes drama in WoW
Is this the whole truth? In recent months, there have been tensions between Asmongold and OTK. Much of OTK participated in the project “OnlyFangs” on a hardcore WoW server, but Asmongold was not involved.
Sodapoppin called the reasons for his absence “made-up bullshit” but accepted that Asmongold probably just didn’t feel like playing hardcore WoW (via sportskeeda).
Additionally, there was an open discussion in the clan about distancing themselves from Asmongold due to his extreme political content. However, this has not led to any consequences so far.

Asmongold is extremely successful on Twitch, but at a price
What’s behind that: The question remains whether Asmongold came up with the idea to end his membership in OTK himself, or if it took a call from someone like Esfand, Mizkif, or Sodapoppin to trigger that thought process.
Although Asmongold has massive reach, he has now become the opposite of brand-safe
