The streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm has been banned from Twitch, but that doesn’t seem to bother him much. While others protest and suffer from existential anxiety due to lost income, the Doctor jokes about his ban and sees it as a vacation.
Why was DrDisrespect banned? There is no official statement from Twitch. However, it is believed that DrDisrespect was banned because he filmed from a public restroom multiple times at the E3 2019. In the restroom, convention attendees were visible, including a teenager.
It violates the California law protecting personal rights to invade the privacy of people by filming them in the restroom.
DrDisrespect’s Twitch channel remains banned. He has 3.4 million followers on the streaming platform. This makes him the tenth largest channel on Twitch and a huge source of income.
How DrDisrespect reacts to the ban: Most other streamers who are banned from Twitch sound the alarm, want to mobilize their fans, and exert pressure on Twitch to be reinstated.
Many streamers believe they cannot miss a stream because they would lose followers and the crucial subscribers that provide regular income.
The Doctor does nothing of the sort. Instead:
- he posts that he has fired his director Alex first – a running gag
- he generates Twitch emotes for the photo showing him looking over the toilet – that photo has already become iconic
- then he posted a YouTube video of his trade fair visit, triumphantly striding through the E3 accompanied by a massive bodyguard. The video ends with him getting “hot diarrhea” and having to go to the bathroom – the rest is history
- he randomly starts arguments on Twitter, as he engages in a back-and-forth with Ninja about his hairstyle “Nice haircut” – “At least mine is real”
Otherwise, DrDisrespect seems to consider the Twitch ban more of a vacation than a threatening interruption of his work.
