Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won an Oscar, and even in World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2, congratulations are being given.
A Greeting from Azeroth to Hollywood
The night of the Oscars is behind us. In the meantime, the event has become so big that it sends waves through the virtual game worlds of Azeroth and Tyria. The developers of Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft couldn’t resist congratulating Leonardo DiCaprio on his Oscar for the film “The Revenant“.
In the film, DiCaprio plays a frontiersman in the early 19th century who is abandoned by his companions to die in the wilderness from the wounds he suffered in a fight with a grizzly bear. It is a story full of revenge, hardship, and phenomenal landscapes that earned DiCaprio the long-awaited Oscar.
Guild Wars 2 extends its own “Revenant” greeting – after all, they are brothers in spirit.
World of Warcraft takes a humorous approach to this as well. The bear indeed played a major part in the victory. Why isn’t he being thanked?
