During the CoD Modern Warfare Open Beta, some players made an interesting discovery. Cross Save is now activated there. But what is behind it?
Where was the Cross-Save feature discovered? From today, the Open Beta of CoD Modern Warfare is running on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Some players are testing the game on different platforms. In doing so, they discovered a new feature. The Cross-Save function is activated in the Modern Warfare beta. This was neither known before nor announced by the developers.
Cross Save in the Open Beta – How it works
How does Cross-Save work? When you link two different platforms, such as PC and Xbox One, the progress from one platform is also transferred to the other. Specifically, this means: you essentially have an overarching CoD account that you can use on all supported platforms you are playing on.

Players have become aware of this in the Open Beta of Modern Warfare and have wondered if it could be a mistake, as such a Cross-Save function has not been announced for the beta. Our author Christopher tested it himself and his progress from the Xbox One was directly transferred to the PC.
This function transfers things like your level progress, equipment, emblems, and calling cards to other platforms. However, linking to the CoD account is necessary.
So far, it is unclear whether this feature will also be included in the finished game. A month ago, the developers explained that they were experimenting with this feature, but it has not yet been confirmed for the final version.
What benefits do you get from the feature? If this function is also implemented in the finished game, it could offer some advantages for players. Cross-Save no longer binds you to one platform, and you can play the same save across different devices without having to start over each time.
This way, you can play on the PC during the day and in the evening start with your friends on the PS4. However, you will likely have to own the game for both platforms, as this is not Play-Anywhere.
What does Cross Save bring?
What is the goal of Cross-Play? The developers want to create a large Call of Duty community with Cross-Play and at the same time offer the ultimate multiplayer experience.
In conjunction with the already implemented Cross-Play feature, Cross-Save would bring additional comfort and freedom for players. They want to ensure that players can enjoy the experience completely independently of their platform. Therefore, most content is also intended to be released simultaneously on all platforms.
This way, they want to prevent a split in the community. Playstation 4 players should still receive a “Day 1” advantage. What this will involve, however, is not yet known.
This is what players say about Cross-Save: When the Cross-Save rumors first emerged a month ago, players on reddit were excited about the idea. Some would even be willing to buy the game for multiple platforms if the developers included Cross-Save. One player jokingly said, “So are the developers finally making the CoD account useful?”.
However, it remains to be seen whether this feature will actually make it into the finished version of the game. It can currently be tested in the Open Beta and works without apparent problems. At least from a technical standpoint, the chances look good that players will also find the Cross-Save feature in the retail version of Modern Warfare.
