Whoops! After accidentally releasing a discount code from Razer that gave 50% off on every purchase, gamers were in a buying mood.
The CEO of Razer accidentally released a test discount code that gives customers 50% off purchases. Although the code was mistakenly made public, Razer stands by it and states: Those who bought something with the 50% off can keep it and do not have to pay extra.
CEO releases discount code with interesting consequences
In a Facebook post, CEO Min-Liang Tan promoted the recently launched Razer Game Store. He uploaded a picture of the store, which apparently showed his shopping cart. The problem was that he forgot to remove a 50% test promo code from the image.
Gamers quickly noticed this mistake, stormed the online store, and used the discount code Test123 for their purchases. It didn’t take long for the CEO to notice his mistake, delete the image, and deactivate the code. But by then, some happy customers had already cashed in.
In a subsequent Facebook post, Min-Liang Tan joked: I fired the person responsible for the leak, then hired myself back. For all of you who were fast enough and used the 50% off: You deserve it, and I acknowledge that.”
That customers actually received the 50% off is likely a surprise for many. However, this is not the first time such a discount has been leaked at Razer. In 2013, it happened already. Back then, it was even a 90% discount leaked by a third party. Just like now, Razer acknowledged the purchases.
While we’re in a buying mood, we ask: Do you also buy as much gaming merch as we do?
