Oops, MeinMMO suddenly looks different! We have a new design and hope you like it as much as we do

New colors, new logo, new ninja, and a new website layout – everything now looks different at MeinMMO! What changes for you is explained by MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya.

Dear community,

in the background, we’ve been working like little ninjas for months on a fresh coat of paint for MeinMMO, and today we proudly present the result! Please imagine grand fanfares and glittering confetti here, which we will still be finding in some corners of the website in 50 years.

In terms of usability, everything remains comfortably simple for you, but we can present everything to you in a much more varied way now. It’s already been a good six years since we made significant changes, and you could see that. Our site looked quite outdated, and we felt that the appearance was simply old-fashioned.

Furthermore, what is closest to our hearts visually was completely overlooked:

The people behind the screens who come together here every day to engage with games and their favorite nerd topics.

The focus should be on people

In the age of quickly generated AI content, one thing still holds true more than when MeinMMO was founded: Without people, we would have nothing to share and discuss. Since our roots lie in the MMORPG genre, the social aspect of gaming and community dynamics in reporting have always been important to us.

Don’t get me wrong, we also use AI in content creation as a tool. A prominent example: You can read the entire offering of MeinMMO in English, as the texts are translated using AI to connect us globally.

However, we love the stories of the people who develop games, play them, and exchange ideas about them online – and we enjoy telling those stories! The same goes for our own stories, which we experience with our nerd hobbies and hope they entertain you and add value to your everyday life.

We now have the opportunity to highlight quotes, individual people, or formats even more prominently. This is partly because we as an editorial team can now spontaneously redesign the homepage like a building block. This allows us to put individual articles, images, surveys, or even videos from the MeinMMO YouTube channel in the spotlight.

So don’t be surprised if the appearance of the homepage changes slightly spontaneously. Maybe even more so in the coming days because our web devs have handed us a new toy, and you know how it is with new toys…

An old legend returns

So, who of you has been around long enough to remember our first logo?

The logo and the little ninja next to it were created back then by our founder Dawid (with the few resources he had at the time). When MeinMMO was later bought by Webedia, we suddenly had completely different resources available, like a professional graphic designer. Convenient! The logo changed and became more professional over time. The ninja dissipated in a cloud of smoke and has since lived on only in the shadows.

When we started redesigning the website, we realized that we actually missed our ninja quite a bit. His old design might have resembled a ski jumper. But a mascot that watches over you from the shadows – that has something.

We quickly asked our graphic designer Jakob if he could give the ninja a fresh coat of paint, so we could bring him back out of the shadows. And boy, we liked the new design so much that he has now even become part of our logo again:

Old ninja, new attire.

Get ready to encounter this little ninja more often now. Our social media manager Sandra is already looking forward to letting him dart through our social channels on Instagram, TikTok, and Threads.

At the moment we call him “The Legend”, but he still lacks a proper name. Maybe you have some ideas? Feel free to share them in the comments! We might even do a community vote on this. We’re still a bit undecided on that.

A big thank you – also to you

Dear community, first of all, a big thank you to you!

To this day, I jump into the comment section with every article to see what your opinion is – about the topics, the articles, and videos. We ourselves have a lot of joy in shaping the site and its content. I am already super nervous to find out what you think of our new look.

Please write to us in the comments what you think of the new design! Do you find everything you need? Is there anything missing? Let us know.

At this point, I also want to thank the ninjas in the background:

Our web dev team, especially Steffi, Sebastian, and Ben, have gone through countless feedback loops with us and made the new design possible.

Our product manager Alex must not be forgotten, who collected every piece of feedback and translated between the editorial team and the web devs into the other language.

I already mentioned our graphic designer Jakob, but here too: honor where honor is due, and a big thank you for the fresh coat of paint. I really love our new ninja, but also the new colors!

My bosses Dawid and Rae have contributed a lot of input and questioned all our ideas again and again so that we could achieve a result that made all of us really happy.

I also want to say thank you to my entire editorial team, who fills the website every day with various content and continually brings cool ideas and stories. Without you, all of this would just be a (now really) beautiful but empty canvas. In terms of the redesign, an extra thank you to Lydia and Sophia from the editorial team, who secretly tested our new website again and again and found every possible and impossible error.

And so I will conclude with: Always good loot!

Your Leya
