With “Steel Dawn,” the last major update for Fallout 76 is released one week early in 2020. A bug in the Xbox Store is to blame. Bethesda responds quickly and allows the Steel Brotherhood to return to Appalachia one week earlier than planned.
Why “Steel Dawn” was released one week early: Originally, the Brotherhood was supposed to return to Appalachia on December 1. Due to an error in the Xbox Store, players were able to download the update as early as November 24, but afterwards Fallout 76 would not start anymore. Bethesda immediately investigated the issue and decided after a brief discussion to release Steel Dawn a week earlier than planned.
The entire team agreed that the last major content update for Fallout 76 is ready and nothing stands in the way of its release. Steel Dawn was subsequently unlocked for Xbox players and also for all other platforms. In the announcement, Bethesda apologized to Xbox players for the confusion and hopes that all players are just as excited about the new update.
What to Expect in Fallout 76 Now
With the return of the Steel Brotherhood, it is now possible to play the first chapter of a completely new questline, meet new characters, and visit revamped locations.
The “Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel” Introduced
Steel Dawn lets you build underground: It is now possible to set up your own C.A.M.P. underground as well. The three different shelters allow you to build underground. Every player will receive the Vault Supply Room for free at the start.
The Vault Entrance will initially be available only for Fallout 1st members, and later in the Atom Shop for everyone. The Vault Atrium is available for purchase in the Atom Shop for all players from the start.

Why hunger and thirst are no longer a problem in Fallout 76: With the new update, the thirst and hunger system has been overhauled. Players who are well-fed and hydrated will now receive additional buffs to their stats. So you can no longer starve or thirst in Appalachia.
Equipment and weapons of the Steel Brotherhood: By completing quests for the Steel Brotherhood and daily operations, you now have the opportunity to unlock new weapons and armor directly from the Brotherhood’s arsenal.
