Only a few weeks before the release of Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, Bungie is becoming increasingly generous with new details. The studio has now introduced 6 new armor sets that will be waiting for you this fall. Additionally, the developers clarify once again which armors will be transitioned to Armor 2.0.
These sets are: With Season 8 and the Shadowkeep expansion, new armor sets will be introduced into the game in October. Bungie usually likes to keep one or two surprises up its sleeve or keeps the Guardians in the dark.
However, at the PAX West gaming convention, many new armor pieces were spotted alongside weapons – including some Exotics. In its current “This Week at Bungie” blog, the studio shows 6 new armor sets. Additionally, the developers explain where to get these armor pieces.
These armor sets will arrive in the fall
In total, there are 6 new sets that players can earn (or purchase) soon. Some are legendary armors, while others are Universal Ornaments that can be used on various armor pieces. It looks like these could be all the new sets for the upcoming content.
Dreambane set:
This is a legendary armor set that you will receive through activities on the new Moon location.
“Garden of Salvation” set:
This controversially discussed Vex set can be obtained in the new raid Garden of Salvation. The glowing effects are reminiscent of the ornaments for the raid gear from Destiny 1.
Substitutional set:
You will receive this set from seasonal activities in Season 8 as well as free and premium season rank rewards.
“Phenotype Plasticity” set (universal ornament):
This set consists of universal ornaments that you will earn through the premium season rank rewards.
“Iron Will” set:
You will earn this set in the Season of the Undying through the PvP event Iron Banner.
“Empyrean Cartographer” set (universal ornament):
This ornament set will be available in Season 8 from Tess Everis in the Eververse.
These existing armor sets will be transitioned to Armor 2.0
With Shadowkeep, the new armor system Armor 2.0 will be introduced in Destiny 2. However, not only the new armor sets will utilize this system. Most existing legendary sets will also be transitioned to the new standard on October 1.
Bungie has now explicitly explained which old sets are affected:
- Crucible: Year-1 sets including Year-1 ornaments
- Strike: Year-1 sets including Year-1 ornaments
- Black Armory: The Forge sets
- Gambit:
- Gambit armors from Forsaken
- Gambit Prime armors from the season of the Outlaw
- Menagerie
- All Menagerie armor pieces
- Raids
- Leviathan sets
- Scourge of the Past sets
- Last Wish sets
- “Last Wish” sets
- “Curse of the Past” sets
- “Crown of Sorrow” sets
- Location sets (also available from planetary vendors)
- European Dead Zone (EDZ)
- Titan
- Nessus
- Io
- Mercury
- Mars (vendors and Escalation Protocol)
- Thunderdome
- Dreaming City
