The upcoming sci-fi role-playing game Starfield is Bethesda’s first new franchise in 25 years. Accordingly, this space adventure is significant not only for fans but also for the development studio. A Starfield developer has now explained that he cannot talk about the game – in general, only one person is allowed to do so.
Who is allowed to talk about Starfield? As the lead designer of Bethesda, Emil Pagliarulo, revealed on Twitter, only Todd Howard is allowed to speak about unreleased information regarding Starfield.
Todd Howard leads Bethesda together with studio director Ashley Cheng. Howard is the game director and executive producer for Bethesda Game Studios and is also responsible for Starfield. Additionally, he is in charge of developing the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series.
I know this is not what every Starfield fan wants to hear from me, but I feel the need to clarify: No one except Todd Howard himself is authorized to speak publicly about unreleased game information. That is the job of our PR/Marketing/Community people.

“I don’t want to be fired”
Why is only Todd Howard allowed to talk about Starfield? Pagliarulo added in his tweet that he has signed a so-called NDA (non-disclosure agreement), a confidentiality agreement.
It “hurts” him a lot not to be able to address the many questions from fans because he feels so honored by their excitement for the role-playing game, but he cannot answer 99% of the questions because of the NDA.
Accordingly, Pagliarulo is not allowed to share his opinion on game content, talk about performance, or discuss aspects of the game.
Pagliarulo also added that he would likely lose his job if he talked about unreleased information regarding Starfield despite the confidentiality agreement: “I signed an NDA. I am a professional. I don’t want to be fired (via Twitter).”
Even though Starfield fans cannot expect new information from Pagliarulo, a lot is already known about the sci-fi RPG – enough to fill a document with 1,000 pages regarding Starfield .
It is also certain that Starfield will be released on September 6, 2023, for Xbox and PC. However, if you are playing on PS5, you will have to rely on a popular alternative that even offers multiplayer.
