2. Corpse Runs
What is it? If a character died in an MMORPG like Asheron’s Call, it was necessary to find the corpse after respawning to get the equipment back. In the meantime, other players could loot the corpse. Therefore, you had to be quick.
Why is it not around today? Some MMORPGs still offer corpse runs today, but not as severely as they used to. Often, you respawn with your equipment or simply lose EXP if you can’t find the corpse. Such runs could be quite annoying, especially if you were continuously killed in a battle or if the body lay in an area guarded by powerful opponents, and you didn’t have good items anymore.
Do players wish for this system to return? Corpse runs, as they used to be, are a thing of the past. Many found it tedious to constantly search for the corpse and figure out how to reach it. Thus, there’s generally no desire for a return to this system.
