If you decide on unspeakable things in the new game Avowed on Steam and Xbox, you will get an ending that only 0.2 percent of players have seen.
What is Avowed? Avowed is the latest game from Obsidian Entertainment. You play as a so-called Godlike
, who is tasked by his emperor to investigate a plague. In the process, you explore a colorful world, which is not an open world.
MeinMMO author Max Handwerk has already played Avowed in November 2024 and says, the game closes the gap left by Skyrim. At the release on February 18, 2025, the game received a Metacritic rating of 80.
By now, Avowed has been live for a few weeks, and some players have already completed the story. However, exactly 0.2 percent of players have seen one of the rarest and most brutal endings.
Attention, Spoiler: This article contains hard spoilers for Avowed!
0.2 percent of players have betrayed, deceived, and worse
What happens in the worst ending? In the bad ending, almost all your companions leave you. They condemn you for your poor decisions – they no longer want to follow you. The Steel Garotte rules, and all other rulers are against you.
But even if you join the Steel Garotte and Lödwyn here, you are not their ally: Lödwyn wants to erase all traces of the Sapadal. As a Sapadal Godlike, your character is part of that, which is why she kills you. The epilogue implies that Lödwyn establishes a dictatorship.

What do you have to do for the ending? To unlock this very bad ending and to be one of the 0.2 percent of players who have it, you must always make negative decisions throughout the game. For example, you must kill Ygwulf in Paradis, let the Steel Garotte burn Rior down, and allow Kostya to storm Solace Keep.
Already during the journey, the companions will react accordingly to your decisions. Only Inquisitor Lödwyn will show admiration, as she benefits from it.
With being able to completely go against your mission, friends, and allies in Avowed, the game finds itself in very good company. You can also play evil in games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and Skyrim.
