Heroes of the Storm – The Loot Makes Everything Better!
Heroes of the Storm has recently been updated to “Heroes of the Storm 2.0” with a new loot system. It is now very similar to Overwatch, as you can now receive tons of loot by playing the game diligently and leveling up. Like in Overwatch, you receive a box for each level, and at special milestones – such as level 100 – you even get special boxes with extra loot or guaranteed epics.
Inside the boxes, there can be anything from rather unimpressive emojis, spray paints, or quotes to skins, announcer voices, and even heroes! Unlike in Overwatch, you can reroll the content of a loot box anytime if you don’t like the result. This costs a manageable amount of gold, enhancing the previously rather unattractive in-game currency significantly.
Heroes of the Storm 2.0 – A New Game Feel
With HotS 2.0, Heroes of the Storm becomes much more accessible and motivating, especially since you receive a one-time gift of a package with 20 heroes, giving you a good selection of heroes to play with. Each new hero starts at level 1 and can quickly be leveled up for a few quick loot boxes.
Therefore, you are always rewarded for something, which greatly changes the game feel. Until now, farming virtually useless gold was unappealing. Sure, HotS was fun, but you hardly had any noticeable progress. With Heroes of the Storm 2.0, you are always rewarded, and for really good performance, you even get better loot, such as veteran boxes with extra loot.
This makes HotS much more fun! And cool skins for D.va and Genji in Overwatch can also be earned by playing HotS.
HotS – Genji and D.va – More Overwatch for MOBA
The loot system is not the only thing in HotS that has been adapted from Overwatch. Coinciding with the expansion came the new hero Genji in Blizzard’s MOBA. Genji comes from Overwatch and is an agile cyber-ninja there who takes down enemies with shurikens and a dragon katana.
In Heroes of the Storm, Genji is essentially the same. He jumps around agilely, throws his projectiles from a distance, and can close in or flee at lightning speed. As an ultimate, he can devastate his enemies with the Dragonblade. Joining him in May is another Overwatch heroine: D.va.
The skills of the Korean pro-gamer and mech pilot are not yet known, but D.va should also be an agile tank with good firepower and explosive surprises in HotS. And how she reacts to heroes like Zeratul, Raynor, or Kerrigan as a Starcraft fan will surely be great fun!
