As expected, Hearthstone won against TESO, WildStar, and Final Fantasy XIV in the fight for the 2014 Golden Joystick Award.
We reported six weeks ago on the Golden Joystick Awards 2014 and which participants would be competing for the award of the best online game of the year.
Nominated were: Hearthstone, The Elder Scrolls Online, WildStar, Final Fantasy XIV, Grand Theft Auto Online, World of Warplanes, the Xbox 360 version of World of Tanks, DayZ, and War Thunder.
We had already suspected back then that Hearthstone would secure the title as a favorite among the participants. Readers agreed with us in the comments. Now the awards have been given: Hearthstone won both in the category “Best Online Game” and in the category “Best Mobile Game” and emerges as the winner of the voting.
Officially, it did not become Game of the Year: That honor goes to Dark Souls.
The Golden Joystick Awards have been awarded by the magazine computerandvideogames since the dawn of time (since the late 70s) and bring prestige and renown to the winner. The voting was conducted by the fans, who could participate in an online voting.
