Enel was one of the most iconic adversaries Ruffy faced in One Piece. He ruled as a self-proclaimed god over Skypiea. However, the Straw Hat Crew ended his reign when Ruffy defeated him. But did you know that Enel is not actually dead and has fulfilled his greatest dream?
What dream did Enel have? Enel wanted to reach the moon, which he also called “Fairy Vearth.” To this end, he had a massive ark called Maxim constructed. In his homeland, there was a legend that the legendary land is located there.
By eating the Thunder Fruit, Enel can power the ark. With the electrical energy, it is even possible for the ark to fly through space. The ark was made partly from the gold of the ruins of Shandora, which is said to transmit electricity.
After the battle against Ruffy, it initially seems that Enel has been defeated and the ark has been mostly destroyed. But thanks to the cover stories of the One Piece manga, we know that Enel somehow managed to fly to the moon with the ark.
Currently, the Egghead arc is being shown in One Piece. Sing along with the opening:
Enel lands on the moon and becomes the new ruler
How is Enel doing on the moon? Shortly after landing, Enel encounters an automaton named First Lieutenant Spacey. The automatons are small beings that were created on Earth. However, their creator choked while observing an explosion on the moon and died.
Therefore, the automatons boarded balloons to fly to the moon. They sought revenge on those responsible for the explosion. In the present, Spacey asks Enel for help, as the automatons have been attacked by space pirates. Enel helps the little beings and quickly defeats the pirates.
You can see Enel and his little helpers more closely in the following tweet:
Enel later discovers that there is an ancient city on the moon called Birka. It shares the same name as the sky island from which the self-proclaimed thunder god hails. The original inhabitants were technologically advanced and used the automatons to ease their lives.
Shortly thereafter, Enel shocks the ancient ruins, thereby energizing some of the previously dormant automatons. The revived automatons thank Enel.
From ancient drawings on the walls, Enel learns that the moon’s inhabitants are the ancestors of the people living in Skypiea, Shandora, and Birka on Earth. They had to leave the moon because resources were running low. Thus, they reluctantly left the automatons behind on the moon.
Enel realizes that now he owns the entire moon, with the automatons as his subjects. Therefore, he decides to live on the moon from now on and build his new kingdom there. This means he is unlikely to encounter the Straw Hat Crew again, and it is improbable that he will ever appear in One Piece again.
Presumably, he would now have significantly worse chances against Ruffy and the others. Meanwhile, the Straw Hat Crew is currently participating in a battle royale: One Piece: The members of the Straw Hat Crew ranked – How Ruffy, Franky, and the others perform
