The next big enemy in season 2 of the live-action adaptation of One Piece is the Baroque Works. Thanks to the manga, we even know what has become of each of the individual agents.
Warning, spoilers: If you don’t know the manga but only watch the live-action series, here are some major spoilers for you.
Who is the Baroque Works? In the organization, fighters are divided into numbers following a “Mister.” Mister 0, or Sir Crocodile, is the leader of the organization. The organization is divided into the following membership ranks:
- Officer Agents (Mister 0 to Mister 5)
- Billions (Mister 6 to Mister 12)
- Millions (freelancers)
- Unluckies (intelligence service and punishment command of the Billions/Millions)
Each higher-ranked employee is assigned a partner named after a holiday
. In the case of Sir Crocodile, it is Miss Bloody Sunday, who later joins the Straw Hat crew. The only exception is Mister 2, as he occupies both ranks simultaneously as a transvestite. Many of them also possess a Devil Fruit power.
The Baroque Works will also be seen in the remake of One Piece:
The Baroque Works aims to help Sir Crocodile gain more power. He wants to become the Pirate King. However, through an encounter between the Straw Hat Pirates and the criminal organization, the Baroque Works is dismantled. Thanks to the manga, we know what the individual agents are doing today.
The Baroque Agents live a normal life
What happened to the Baroque Agents? Meanwhile, the Baroque Works has been dissolved. Some characters later meet the Straw Hat crew, but we also see what happens to some of the other agents.
- Sir Crocodile has experienced a lot after the dismantling of his organization. He was stripped of his status as a Warlord of the Sea and captured by the Marines. However, in the Impel Down prison, he teams up with Luffy and escapes. He founds the Cross Guild together with Mihawk and Buggy. His partner is now part of the Straw Hat crew.
- Mister 1 is still a loyal companion of Sir Crocodile. His partner, Miss Doublefinger, has chosen a peaceful life instead. Together with Mister 4, Mister 5, Miss Goldenweek, Miss Merry Christmas, and Miss Valentine, she opens the New Spiders Café, a legal business.
- Mister 2 and Mister 3, however, are in different circumstances. Mister 2 now lives on level 5.5 of the Impel Down prison and is the queen of the transgender kingdom there. Mister 3 has stayed with Buggy and is now also part of the Cross Guild.
There are several characters from One Piece that suddenly no longer appear in the main story. However, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the manga, has not forgotten them.
