The anime for One Piece is currently on a longer break. Fans can pass the time until the start of the new episodes with a short mini-episode.
Attention: In this article, we will discuss the events after Wano Kuni. Those who have not yet reached episode 1093 in the anime may encounter spoilers here.
What kind of short film is this? The 5-minute short film was shown at the MBS Anime Fest 2025 on January 19, 2025, and is now available on the official One Piece channel on YouTube. Here we see Ruffy searching for his crew and the Thousand Sunny on an unknown island.
Suddenly, Trafalgar Law joins, who can enlighten Ruffy. Beppo from his crew contacted him and informed him that a sea monster was roaming the seas around the island. When the two encounter the monster, they find that it has a sword stuck in its throat and that is why it is so aggressive.
The two proceed in a manner typical for their behavior: Law analyzes the situation and tries to remove the sword with his Room. But Ruffy rushes in headfirst, punches the sea monster, and dislodges the sword from its throat.
Law and Ruffy have a similar situation in One Piece Stampede:
New video doesn’t comfort for long during the break
Is the video part of the official story? It has not been stated whether the plot would also appear in the official anime. However, even if the mini-episode is not part of the main storyline, it fits well into the context.
Through the flashbacks, we know that the episode takes place shortly after Wano Kuni. Since Law is still completely unscathed, the plot must occur before episode 1093 of the anime. Because in this episode, Law faces the pirate emperor Blackbeard and is nearly destroyed along with his crew. Only Beppo can save him.
Who is the video for? Since the video is only 5 minutes long and shows hardly any noteworthy plot, it is presumably aimed at fans waiting for the new episodes of the anime. This way, the long drought can be temporarily bridged, and viewers can see new material featuring Ruffy and Law.
Among the comments, there are numerous viewers who are delighted with the video and thank the animation team for designing such a beautiful episode.
Fans of Trafalgar Law can also rejoice in the manga realm. The pirate is getting a German translation of his own backstory. You will have to wait until May 2025: One Piece brings new stories about 2 popular swordsmen, telling more about their past
