Place 2: Enies Lobby
Enies Lobby is the court island of the World Government, thus one of the most important authorities of the organization. There, the chief judge Baskerville passes his judgment on criminals who must defend themselves in court.
The arc is so important for One Piece because Luffy and the Straw Hat crew declare war on the World Government. Sogeking, actually Usopp, burns the World Government’s flag. They are then informed that they have thus made themselves the enemy of 170 nations around the world.
Many fans of One Piece can also remember one of the most iconic scenes of the arc. Nico Robin allows herself to be captured by the World Government and is transported to Enies Lobby. The Straw Hat crew does not leave her alone and attempts to rescue her.
Luffy wants to hear from Nico Robin that she wants to live. She then screams the liberating words at him, and the Straw Hat pirate does everything possible to free her from captivity. After an epic battle, he succeeds. Due to a misunderstanding, the island was completely destroyed by a Buster Call.
Place 1: Marineford
The Marineford arc featured the most epic battle of all time. Here, Luffy and his allies faced the full might of the Marines. All admirals and the Seven Samurai stood in their way. In the further course, even Whitebeard and Blackbeard entered the stage.
Luffy’s goal was to save Ace from his execution. He had caused a lot of trouble for the Marines: he had incapacitated one of the Seven Samurai and was the son of Gol D. Roger, the current Pirate King.
Although Luffy managed to free Ace from his chains and save him from execution, in a moment of carelessness, Ace had to jump in between Luffy and Akainu, who then pierced him with his magma fist.
The heart-wrenching scream has engraved itself into the hearts of many One Piece fans. It was terrible to witness our beloved pirate suffer so much. To this day, this emotional moment has not been topped.
