Eustass Kid is a pirate of the Worst Generation from One Piece, which also includes Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro. In the 104th issue of the SBS, mangaka Eiichiro Oda explained how his pirate crew was formed. The foundation came about due to a sad incident.
How was the Kid Pirate Crew founded? The Kid Pirate Crew consists of four known members. In total, it is said to consist of 31 people, but Oda mentioned that only the founding members are important (via X). These include:
- Eustass Kid (Captain)
- Killer
- Wire
- Heat
The four pirates lived in their childhood on an island in the South Blue. They were already good friends back then. Since the World Government was not responsible for this island, rival gangs ruled the island.
Each of the four cities on the island had its own gang, and the leaders were Kid, Killer, Wire, and Heat. However, due to a tragic incident, Kid’s then-best friend was killed by another gang. Her name was Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika, and both Killer and Kid had a crush on her.
Kid went crazy when he heard about her death. He allied the gangs under his leadership and defeated the rival gang. Kid then declared that he no longer wanted to live in such a tiny world. Therefore, he decided to become a pirate. He named the Kid Pirate Crew’s ship after his childhood friend. It is called Victoria Punk.

The current status of the Kid Pirate Crew
Attention, Spoilers: This contains spoilers for the anime episode 1112. In it, the Kid Pirate Crew battles a strong opponent.
Why is he currently important in the anime? The Kid Pirate Crew had a fight with the Pirate Emperor Shanks in the latest anime episode. Kid wanted to take revenge for Shanks’ crew having severed his arm in the past.
However, Kid was defeated by a sword strike from Shanks. It is not entirely clear whether Kid survived this incident. However, Oda made it clear with a sentence in the manga that this incident marked the end of the Kid Pirate Crew.
This could mean that we will not see Eustass Kid and his pirate crew again. Next, the Straw Hat crew is heading to Elbaf, where they could possibly encounter Shanks. However, only if he has remained on the island after his victory over Eustass Kid.
The mangaka had overdone it with the Worst Generation. The story of One Piece is only so long because the number of pirates is so high: 2 pirate groups are responsible for One Piece having over 1,000 episodes – “I slightly regret it”
