The two swordsmen Lorenor Zorro and Trafalgar Law are two of the most popular characters from One Piece. Soon there will be new information about their backgrounds that will expand on the novels featuring the two characters that have been released so far.
What kind of information is it? The new novel chapters are supposed to deal with the backstory of Zorro and Law. For Zorro, we will gain insight into what his life as a bounty hunter was like. He had worked as a pirate hunter before Luffy hired him for the Straw Hat crew.
In Law’s case, we will learn how he came into possession of his sword Kikoku. In the manga, we have already witnessed his childhood, but this new chapter focuses on a part of his life that we did not know about before.
Where will they be available? According to X-user newworldartur, the two new chapters are set to appear in the upcoming issue of One Piece magazine. The magazine with the cumbersome title “One Piece Magazine Special Feature: Laid-Back One Piece ~Laugh & Moff~ 019” will be released on December 4, 2024, in Japan.
A German version of the magazine is unlikely to be released. The previous magazines have never been published in Germany. However, there is hope that the chapters will reach us in another form.
Law makes a special appearance in the One Piece Stampede movie:
The backstory of Law and Zorro could come to Germany
When will the stories come to Germany? The new chapters are expansions of the previous two novels featuring Law and Zorro.
- The first chapter of the One Piece novel Zoro was released on June 4, 2024, in Japan. The upcoming magazine will feature the second chapter.
- The One Piece novel Law was already released on April 3, 2020, in Japan. It consists of four chapters and will receive a prequel to the existing story with the new section.
The German publisher Carlsen Manga recently announced that the first four chapters of One Piece – Law will be released in Germany on July 29, 2025.
Since the novel is being released about five years after the release of the final chapter in Japan, it might unfortunately take some time before the new stories are available in German as well.
Are the novels official? Eiichiro Oda has nothing to do with the story of the novels, so they are not part of the official story. The novels can rather be seen as nice supplements that provide more details about the characters for whom there is no time in the manga.
There are many other events that the mangaka will not have time for to include in the manga. One incident we will never see was an unusual alliance between rival parties: In One Piece, there is an event you will never see in the anime
