What holds a society together when it is trapped in a never-ending snowstorm? Perhaps you will find your own answer to this question in Frostpunk 2 (Steam, PS5).
What kind of game is Frostpunk 2? As with its predecessor, this is a society survival game. You must lead your city through an endless winter, provide warmth and food for the residents, and ensure enough cohesion.
Frostpunk 2 will be released for PC on Steam as well as for the consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 20. With the Deluxe Edition, which you can preorder on Steam, you can start three days earlier.
The official intro to the game has already been uploaded by the developers, you can watch it here:
What do we know about the story? The game takes place 30 years after the beginning of a snowstorm that has enveloped the world in eternal cold. As a Magistrate, you are at the head of a city whose future depends on your decisions.
By the way: The old man in the intro is presumably the captain, our character from the first part. He seems to have completed his service and handed the fate of the city into new hands.
A society on the brink of collapse
The deadly cold is not the only danger in Frostpunk 2. Keeping an eye on the residents of the city is just as important: Among them, there will be groups whose values and future plans are not always identical.
How you deal with the different factions in your city is up to you. Will you fully join one group? Will you show willingness to compromise and try to make everyone somewhat happy? Whether that is even possible, you will find out for yourself in just a few days.
