While there are some monsters that you can catch in Pokémon GO almost continuously and in every event (Menki, cough cough), there are others that have not appeared in the game for years.
This includes a mysterious Pokémon that is also one of the strongest attackers in the game. After more than 2 years of absence, you now have a short opportunity to catch this Pokémon.
Pack your insects – Raid Day with Hoopa
What kind of Pokémon is it? The Pokémon is the mysterious monster Hoopa. It is from the 6th generation and has 2 forms: the imprisoned and the unbound.
While the imprisoned form has the types Psychic and Ghost, in the unbound form, it has the types Psychic and Dark. Using Hoopa candies and Stardust, you can switch between the two forms.
When does the Pokémon appear? On Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, there will be a Raid Day with Hoopa in the game. During this time, you will encounter the unbound form of the Pokémon and can find and challenge it in large numbers in 5-star raids.
You can earn 5 additional, free raid passes by spinning the photo discs of gyms during this short event. Additionally, the remote raid limit will be increased to 20 raids from Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 AM until Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 5:00 AM.
How strong is the Pokémon? Hoopa belongs to both forms among the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. While it can be used as a Psychic and Ghost attacker in its imprisoned form, with the unbound form, you get a good Dark and Psychic attacker.
What weakness does the monster have? The unbound Hoopa has a double weakness to Bug-type attacks and a single weakness to Fairy attacks. So you should focus on such attackers when challenging Hoopa. You can find some recommendations for the battle in our Hoopa counter guide.
