The streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek (30) is regarded as one of the best first-person shooter players in the world, but also as a calm and relatable voice of reason on Twitch. In a stream, he comments on whether he believes that DrDisrespect will return after his scandal: The 42-year-old is accused of sending sexual messages to a minor in 2017.
This is the situation:
- Shroud and DrDisrespect share mutual respect. After all, both have been leading shooter streamers on Twitch for many years, often playing the same games and appealing to the same audience.
- The two competed and bantered with each other around 2019 in Battlefield 5, but in a friendly tone: DrDisrespect once made fun of Shroud for having an accident with his scooter – for the “tough” Dr, a scooter is not a means of transport that can be taken seriously.
- Now DrDisrespect has been accused of having sent sexual messages to a minor in 2017. As a result, friends and partners have distanced themselves from him. Even his own game studio has kicked him out.
Shroud is asked in a stream where he plays Elden Ring if DrDisrespect will return.
For a long time, DrDisrespect’s ban was a mystery: Just a few days ago, the uncomfortable truth came to light:
“We don’t know the context, we don’t know how far it went – it doesn’t matter”
This is what Shroud says: From Shroud’s reaction, it is clear that he has little sympathy for the streamer.
Worse than what DrDisrespect has done now would have been if he hadn’t commented on the issue at all and allowed all those people to continue to “blindly support” him.
Shroud explicitly appreciates that DrDisrespect has clarified the situation and shed light on the darkness.
But Shroud is also brutally honest – he does not accept DrDisrespect’s relativizations that nothing criminal occurred:
“We don’t know the context, we don’t know how far it went – but that doesn’t really matter. What matters: He admitted it. That was the right decision. Now we will see if he comes back.”
“He is too old – Damn 40 or 42 years old”
Does Shroud believe that DrDisrespect will return? No. Shroud says that DrDisrespect is “old, damn 40 or 42 years old” – that just doesn’t work anymore. Even if he disappeared for 4 years now, the internet would not forget. The streamer must realize this himself.
Shroud believes that DrDisrespect will realize that a return as a content creator is futile, say “screw it” and do something else.
“He is out of our scene,” judges one of the nicest guys on Twitch.
Even a business decision might be something DrDisrespect regrets by now: It had long been talked about him moving to Kick and getting an exclusive contract there, which he never received on YouTube. Allegedly, he was even offered 10 million $ a year, but DrDisrespect had a much higher number in mind: The banned streamer from Twitch brazenly demanded 50 million $ for a move to Kick, but they apparently do not want to pay
