On Twitter, a possible leak about Apex Legends circulated, hinting at a very special weapon from the Titanfall series. And the community was already worried – Now there is reassurance.
Update from 27.02.: On Twitter, Respawn Entertainment explained that the weapon would not be coming to the game. Design Director Jason McCord stated that the information suggesting the weapon would come to the game was misinformation. It will not be coming to Apex Legends.
Moving on with the original article, which explains why the weapon is so feared.
What weapon are we talking about? On Twitter, the dataminer “That1MiningGuy,” who also gathered initial information about Season 4 and the alleged Legend “Forge”, shared a screenshot.
In it, a folder named “Smart Pistol MK6 Bullet” is visible. The Smart Pistol MK6 or MK5 are weapons from the Titanfall series that have the ability to eliminate opponents through automatic targeting. You can see what that looks like, for example, here:
Accordingly, the gun was powerful and feared in Titanfall. The dataminer describes his tweet with “please be a joke, please be a joke, please be a joke” – and captures the first reactions from the community.
How the fans are reacting: Under the post from That1MiningGuy, there are already several comments. One user, who apparently is not familiar with the weapon, simply replied with “What?” – to which That1MiningGuy replied: “You don’t know the hell of the Smart Pistol. And I pray that you’ll never have to.” Other reactions are similar:
- “No… please no… no no no. No goddammit,” writes a user.
- “Oh God, not again,” says another user.
- “I’ve just watched some gameplay of the Smart Pistol,” says user ZilkeApex: “Apex developers, if you’re reading this, please don’t, for God’s sake, have mercy.”
- And user SkynetOp sees it positively: “I can’t wait for my 60-kill game with all of them as headshots when this comes to Apex.”
Overall, it sounds like at least the initial reactions are not necessarily in favor of bringing the pistol with auto-aim into the game. It would also be questionable whether it would come as a standard weapon or as a pure gold weapon from drops like the Kraber.
Overall, it remains uncertain whether the weapon will even be added to the game. The first hint certainly did not generate much enthusiasm.
The ping system from Apex Legends, however, has been received quite well. Especially among other shooters:
