The survival game Raft is not only known for being a relatively cozy representative of the genre, but it is also one of the most popular games of its kind. Now the game is finally “finished” and is receiving its largest update to date. We at MeinMMO summarize it.
What kind of game is this? The survival adventure Raft started in early access on Steam on May 23, 2018. Since then it has received constant updates and has become increasingly popular among fans. Of the currently 148,119 user reviews, a whopping 93% are positive, placing it among the most popular survival games on the platform.
You start in Raft with nothing and must build a life from there and try not to die. You will face dangers from animals and even sharks, as a large part of your playtime is spent on the namesake raft.
This raft can be continuously upgraded and transformed into your floating base, with which you navigate the world and sustain yourself. The graphic style of Raft is colorful and inviting and radiates a sense of calm.

Raft is finally finished
What does the new update bring? With the update “The Final Chapter” on June 20, the game is finally finishing up after over 4 years in early access. According to the developers, it is even the largest update they have ever made.
Included are numerous new features and an ending for the story of the survival game that fans have long been waiting for. Additionally, there are the following new contents:
- New locations, including an underwater city, a village in the snow, and a high-tech city in a dome, as well as skyscrapers
- New playable characters
- Many new “Quality of Life” improvements
- New enemy types
Otherwise, you can expect more of what has already made the game great.
Is Raft leaving early access? Although the update concludes the story and brings many new features, it is currently unknown whether the survival game will leave early access on Steam. While it is conceivable, it has not yet been officially confirmed.
The fans already love the update
What is the mood in the community? As much as one might try, negative comments under the announcement of the update are nowhere to be found. The fans are excited for the grand finale of their raft adventure and can hardly wait to explore the new environments.
The mood is overwhelmingly positive, and especially the new locations and the developers are constantly praised in the comments. People are looking forward to returning to the game and having something new to do again.
