Guild Wars 2 confirms its Steam release for August 23. The developers announce this in a press release. Additionally, there is a new package for purchase and for the first time Twitch Drops for the MMORPG.
When is GW2 coming to Steam? Many hints already indicated the release, but now it is officially known. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Guild Wars 2, the popular MMORPG will be released on Steam on August 23. There you can download the game for free and play starting at 9:00 AM.
With the release, the developers at ArenaNet are hoping to attract and excite many new players to the world of Guild Wars 2. Accordingly, there is a new package in the Steam shop, specifically aimed at new fans of the MMORPG, but it may also be interesting for veteran players.
What new package is available? Coinciding with the launch on Steam, the “Complete Collection” of the MMORPG will also be available on the platform. For around 100 euros, you can purchase all the expansions that Guild Wars 2 has to offer.
Included in the package are:
- The first expansion Heart of Thorns
- The second expansion Path of Fire
- The latest expansion End of Dragons is also included
- All 5 seasons of Living World, which tell the story between the expansions
You get all the content that is relevant to the story of Guild Wars 2 at a fair price, considering the prices of the individual expansions and stories themselves.
The MMORPG itself will also be made more appealing for newcomers at the launch on Steam. Now you can get your first mount not at level 80, but right from level 10. The introduction to the story and the game itself is also set to be revamped.

First Twitch Drops for Guild Wars 2
What drops are available? On August 23, the support for Twitch Drops in the MMORPG will also begin. You can link your game account with your Twitch account and earn coveted rewards for watching.
From August 23 to 28, the first drops will be available in Guild Wars 2. These include classic skins, EXP boosts and even an exclusive skin that makes your eyes glow purple.
Downside for existing fans: A bit of the mood among fans is still somewhat subdued. Existing accounts, that is, all those who already play Guild Wars 2, will not be able to log in via Steam. Linking these accounts will not be possible, and they will have to continue using the old launcher.
Many in the community had hoped until the end that this would change, but now it is not the case. At least players from Steam and “old” fans can play together, as the servers that Steam players are on are the same.
