Players of “Mythic+” dungeons in WoW: Shadowlands are crying out. The popular invisibility potion is quite bugged.
Update: Blizzard has released a hotfix that should fix a variety of issues. Death Knights, Druids, and Monks should no longer be prematurely pulled out of the potion’s invisibility.
However, other classes that were not mentioned have also complained about the issue.
Original report: In order to complete the hardest dungeons of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands within the time limit, players use all the tricks available to them. It’s all the more frustrating when some of these methods suddenly stop working. The popular invisibility potion is bugged for many players. It seems to be due to a small change.
What kind of potion is this? It is the Potion of the Hidden Spirit. This potion grants the user invisibility for up to 18 seconds, allowing them to sneak past enemies unnoticed.
Why is the potion so important? For many strategies in high “Mythic+” dungeons, the potion is crucial. It allows players to skip particularly challenging packs. It is also important for timing the various Pride creatures correctly, which appear at specific percentages of defeated enemies. Being able to influence this amount by skipping packs is extremely important.
Why doesn’t the potion work? Many players have speculated about this and found an answer. Many types of new buffs or ticks from items and effects seem to count as an “action” and break invisibility.
- Leaving or gaining a friendly aura counts as an action.
- The passive stacking of stacks (for example, from trinkets).
- Healing ticks from talents (for example, the Spirit Wolf from the Shaman).
- Talents that trigger effects every few seconds.
These and many other passive effects cause invisibility to often break after just a few seconds. The usual “skipping” of special groups is therefore hardly possible anymore.
Is this intended? Probably not. The invisibility potion should grant full invisibility for 18 seconds, and this should only be broken when the player actively performs an action (such as casting a spell) or takes damage (for example, from an area effect). That this can also be triggered by passive effects or just by gaining auras seems to indicate a clear bug.
This is particularly frustrating for players who wanted to push their Mythic keys a little this week. Without invisibility potions, some dungeons are significantly harder.
Have you noticed the problem as well? Have you often relied on invisibility potions or not noticed any of this?
