In Diablo 4 causes a fundamental display to confuse players because it is too complicatedly designed.
In Diablo 4, there are a few fundamental aspects that define the game for players. These include the classic looting and leveling as well as the challenge offered while playing.
Sure, there are players who opt for a cozy run, but the hardcore fans of the action RPG fight for survival in hardcore mode.
However, the more difficult the challenge is, the more important a fundamental display becomes that you know from almost every game: health.
In Diablo 4, health includes not only the hit points of your character but also states that are displayed so complicatedly that some players in the subreddit of the ARPG were still confused even after attempts at explanation.
What is the problem with the display? In addition to your character’s health, there are also the “Fortification” and the “Barrier.”
- The red circle is your health display. When this is empty, you are dead.
- The fortification display is also red and fills up over your health display. If you are 100% fortified, you will also see a gray ring around the health display.
- The blue display that fills in front of your health and fortification is your barrier.
All three displays overlap in Diablo 4 and change the appearance of the health display without really clarifying what they mean. What does fortification do? What does the gray ring mean? How long does my barrier last?
Players are confused despite explanation
What do fortification and barrier do? On Reddit, a user tried to resolve the confusion around the various displays and explain it with a picture.
You can see the Reddit post with the image attempting to explain the displays here:
However, the picture apparently could not help every player. One user responded: “I still don’t get it,” and received over 400 upvotes for his honesty (via Reddit).
Another player stepped in, shed light on the issue in writing, and explained the displays and their effects. He says:
- If your fortification is at 100%, it reduces the damage you receive by 10%. If your fortification is not at 100%, then there is no damage reduction.
- You should achieve 100% fortification when your current fortification is equal to or greater than your current health.
- The barrier scales with your base health and absorbs up to a certain amount of damage from all sources. In this process, the barrier takes damage before your health takes damage.
